Finance

The CRUK Scotland Institute Finance Team supports the Institute through the delivery of comprehensive financial services that enable world-class cancer research. Our responsibilities include managing the purchase-to-pay process, providing financial and management information, as well as offering professional advice and support across all areas of the organisation.

What We Do

Working in close partnership with budget holders, researchers, and operational teams, we support well informed decision-making, promote value for money, and ensure the effective and compliant utilisation of all funding sources.

Our People

The Finance Team works closely with the People & Culture Team to manage funding for staff salaries and student stipends, with a particular focus on maintaining continuity of funding for grant-supported staff.

Our Research

We also collaborate with the Funding Team to support grant applications, award set-up, and provide ongoing financial oversight throughout the lifecycle of research awards.

Our Approach

Our approach is built on partnership, integrity, and continuous improvement. By working alongside researchers and the Research Management Team, we provide an integrated financial support framework that is closely aligned with the Institute’s scientific objectives.

We apply a data-driven approach to decision-making and continually refine our processes to ensure they remain efficient, responsive, and adaptable to the evolving needs of the Institute.

Funding We Manage

As stewards of the Institute’s financial resources, our goal is to maximise scientific discovery and support the achievement of the Institute’s strategic priorities. The funding streams we oversee include:

^

CRUK Core Funding

^

Competitively awarded research grants

^

Commercial contracts

^

Institute funds, including donations and legacies

Working With Our Partners

In addition, we maintain strong working relationships with the University of Glasgow and other partner organisations to coordinate and administer shared funding arrangements and collaborative initiatives.
