People and Culture

The People and Culture function at the Cancer Research UK Scotland Institute (CRUKSI) provides a proactive, high-quality service that supports the delivery of the Institute’s research strategy. Core services include Human Resources, Learning and Organisational Development, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Employee Engagement, and Wellbeing.

What We Do

The team works closely with scientific and professional services leaders across the Institute to attract and develop talented people who can contribute to our research mission. We provide expert advice and support throughout the employee lifecycle, from attraction and recruitment through to onboarding, development, performance and career progression.

Our Priority

Our priority is to create the culture and environment in which people can thrive and do their best work. We focus on wellbeing, engagement, inclusion, leadership and effective people practices, creating the conditions that enable colleagues to perform at their best and contribute to the delivery of world-leading cancer research.

Team Growth

We invest in developing our people and building the capability the Institute needs for the future. This includes supporting career development, strengthening leadership and creating opportunities for learning, progression and collaboration. In line with the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers, we support researchers at every stage of their careers, helping us attract and develop outstanding talent and build the skills and expertise needed to deliver our long-term research ambitions.

Equity, Diversity & Inclusion

We are committed to creating an equitable, diverse and inclusive research environment where talented people from all backgrounds can contribute, develop and succeed. Working in partnership with Research Management and colleagues across the Institute, we embed EDI across our people practices, research careers and organisational culture.
