About us
The CRUK Scotland Institute where the lab is based is a world leading cancer research institute, situated in the vibrant city of Glasgow in Scotland and hosting approximately 60 postdoctoral researcher scientists at any one time. It has an excellent reputation for fundamental cancer research, including world-class metabolism studies and renowned in vivo modelling of tumour growth and metastasis.
Project outline
We are seeking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join the laboratory of Prof. Danny Huang. This MRC-funded position focuses on the characterisation of an oncogenic protein and PROTAC-mediated degradation, in collaboration with Dr David France at the University of Glasgow.
The Huang Lab has a strong interest in understanding the structures, mechanisms and functions of ubiquitin ligases and how their deregulation contributes to cancer. The group has the expertise in recombinant protein expression and purification, structural characterisation of protein complexes, and mechanistic analyses using both biochemical and cell-based approaches. Based at the CRUK Scotland Institute, we benefit from a collaborative environment and work closely with core facilities and other research groups to access advanced techniques, including proteomics, RNA sequencing analysis, advanced microscopy, and genetic mouse models. The candidate will have access to these technologies to support the development of the project.
The ideal candidate will hold (or close to completing) a PhD in biochemistry, biology, or a related field, with strong experience in molecular and cell biology, demonstrated by at least one first-author publication. Prior experience with PROTAC characterisation or research in the ubiquitin pathway is highly desirable. The successful applicant will receive training in recombinant protein purification and biophysical and structural characterisation where necessary. They will be expected to take active role in experimental design, data analysis, coordination of collaborative meetings with the France group, and dissemination of results through publications and presentations.
