About us
The Cancer Research UK Scotland Institute is a world-leading cancer research institute, situated in Glasgow. Approximately 350 researchers split across 30 research groups, consisting of PIs, scientific officers, postdoctoral scientists, and PhD students, drive cutting-edge research into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development. As well as core support from Cancer Research UK, the Institute also receives an additional third of its total income from external grants and industry collaborations. It has an excellent reputation for fundamental cancer research, including world-class in vivo modelling of tumour growth and metastasis. Its research ethos is about innovation, respect, integrity, teamwork and excellence.
Position outline
The Beatson Advanced Imaging Resource (BAIR) underpins cancer research at the Institute by working closely with our research groups to uncover and interrogate important molecular pathways in cancer. Led by Leo Carlin, the BAIR team consists of 6 scientists supporting a varied portfolio of advanced imaging systems, with areas of expertise including high-content, super-resolution imaging, intravital microscopy and 3D multiplexed tissue imaging. BAIR supports users at every stage of the imaging process, from experimental design and sample preparation via in-depth training to developing complex automated imaging routines and writing bespoke image analysis pipelines.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team: providing support to users with high content screening experiments and maximising their research output using BAIR’s expertise and equipment.
You will have a PhD in Biological Sciences or equivalent, with experience in microscopy in life science research. Initiative, curiosity, enthusiasm, and a strong collaborative ethos are essential, alongside a strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills. You will also be well organised and flexible.
