IT Technician

Salary: £25,000 to £35,000 depending on experience

Contract: Full time, permanent position

About Us 

The CRUK Scotland Institute is a cancer research institute, situated in Glasgow with approximately 250 researchers split across 30 research groups consisting of PIs, postdoctoral scientists, PhD students and scientific officers. It is one of Europe's leading cancer research centres, supporting cutting-edge work into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development. As well as core support from Cancer Research UK, the Institute also receives an additional third of its total income from external grants and industry collaborations. It has an excellent reputation for fundamental cancer research, including world-class metabolism studies and renowned in vivo modelling of tumour growth and metastasis.

Position Outline

To provide effective, responsive, and customer-focused IT support to staff across the Institute, ensuring the reliable operation of user equipment, systems, and services. The post holder will act as a primary point of contact for IT-related incidents and requests, supporting business continuity through timely resolution, accurate logging, and escalation of issues in line with agreed procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

·        Service Desk and User Support

·        User Account and Access Management

·        End-User Systems and Applications

·        Hardware, Network, and Peripheral Support

·        Audio Visual and Facilities IT Support

·        Asset Management and Documentation

Experience working in an IT support or service desk environment is essential.  Relevant IT qualification (e.g. CompTIA A+, Microsoft, or experience) would be desirable.
