About the programme

We are delighted to collaborate with the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) and the University of Glasgow to host and support high-calibre Indonesian scholars undertaking doctoral research in cancer research through co-funded PhD opportunities. 

From October 2026, the CRUK Scotland Institute will host up to 5 students per year in its laboratories between 2026-2031, jointly funded by CRUK SI, LPDP and the University of Glasgow. These students will be registered for a 4‐year PhD with the University of Glasgow. 

What is funded?

This programme fully funds a four-year PhD studentship, including:

  • stipend
  • tuition fees at international rate
  • consumables funding
  • cost of travel to and from Indonesia 

Eligibility

To be eligible for these studentships at CRUK SI, applicants must:

  • Be an Indonesian National
  • Meet the requirements of LPDP
  • Hold or expect to graduate with a first or upper-second class undergraduate honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject (or equivalent from a non-UK university)
  • Meet the entry requirements for the PhD programme at the University of Glasgow
